The challenge of NYC Burger Week is not only staying relevant but also original. At the end of the day, all NYC Burger Week events are the same – show up, eat Burgers, have fun. If all the events were that drab, similar and boring there would be no point. Coming up with a theme sometimes is really difficult and other times, it’s really easy. Especially when you are working with Chef Eva, the Brother Jimmy’s Team and the Sisterhood of the Unbuttoning Pants.

When you have a restaurant that’s already known for Southern food, great drinks and good times, crafting up a Kentucky Derby themed party isn’t easy … it’s a blast! Eva is a really talented Chef surrounded by a great team and they made coming up with 4 off-menu, Southern-inspired Burgers look like a walk in the park. The rest just came down to having a good time, which is always on tap at Brother Jimmy’s.

The “Pants” as we call the lovely siblings behind the Sisterhood took this from being a good idea to being really fun and energetic. Who bets on Burgers? WE DO!

It’s Derby Day at Brother Jimmy’s Live in Union Square and we’ve set up the ultimate Kentucky Derby themed Burger dinner for you, hosted by Sisterhood of the Unbuttoning Pants. Chef Eva from Brother Jimmy’s has created 4 Southern inspired off-menu mini-Burgers. You’ll get to taste all 4 and vote for your favorite of the stable.

But before you get started, you’ll cast a ballot for which you think is going to win. After everyone has voted, anyone who entered a ballot with the winning Burger will be entered in a drawing to win a $25 Brother Jimmy’s gift card and a Schweid & Sons limited edition embroidered apron. The winning Burger will be added to the Brother Jimmy’s menu as a limited time only special.

To get you into racing gear, each Burger will be served with a different craft beer or a cocktail made with Woodford Reserve.

The Burgers:

• Blue Grass Burger – Blue cheese stuffed with Bourbon Onion Jam
• BLfgT Burger – Bacon Lettuce, Fried Green Tomato Burger
• BJ’s BBQ Burger – Chipotle BBQ sauce, cheddar and fried onions
• “Hot Brown” Burger – Open Faced Burger with Melted Pimento Cheese (a play on the hot brown which is an open faced sandwich with a variety of meats – turkey, bacon…smothered in a Mornay sauce)

After the Kentucky Derby of Burgers is over, you’re invited to hang out at Brother Jimmy’s Live and watch the real Kentucky Derby go down at 6:34 pm.

Kentucky Derby parties will never be the same again!! 4 Burgers, 3 different sides and 5 drinks? Everyone who left this party left full, happy and a little light on the feet. After all that, the 2 minute race almost seemed like an after thought, or moreover, just a reason to have a good time. AND A GOOD TIME WE HAD! Thank you to Chef Eva, Jon and everyone at Brother Jimmy’s. This was most certainly a complicated event with lots of moving parts and steps. It was a little like conducting a dance or Broadway show, the tastiest one ever created it. You all handled it so well that you deserve a Tony Award for best performance. The Burgers were awesome, the drinks were fantastic and the service was outstanding. Thank you for an awesome finale to NYC Burger Week.
