Let’s take 2 of the most popular Burgers from Brooklyn and ask their respective Chef’s to take off a Friday night, jump up into a food truck and serve a mashup of their Burger to 100 people outside of a distillery. Let’s ask said distillery to bring in one of Brooklyn’s latest craft ales and serve it along with some of their fantastic Rye to 125 people in their not so big tasting room on the busiest bar night of the week. Let’s also ask people to spend money on this and include in that a donation to a no-kill pet rescue center. Then to make it even more difficult, let’s do it on an unsesasonably cold and raining night.

And then let’s have the best night ever!!!!

This was an incredibly difficult event to pull off with lots of moving parts and lots of people involved. There were so many ways it could have gone wrong … but it didn’t. The teams of Gotham Burger Social Club , New York Distilling Co, Sixpoint, New York Bully Crew all worked together to create an environment where the Hard Times Sundaes and Emily families could come together for an exceptional service and what really turned out to be one of the best Burgers NYC has ever seen.

On Friday, May 6, Zurica will pull up the Hard Times Sundaes truck in front of NY Distilling Co where he will be joined by Matt Hyland to offer a one-time only, limited-edition Hard Times Sundaes / Emily Burger Collaboration.

Andrew Zurica and his Hard Times Sundaes Burger Truck will team up Matt Hyland from Emily, NY Distilling Company,  Sixpoint, The Gotham Burger Social Club and Schweid & Sons to raise money for New York Bully Crew rescue organization as part of NYC Burger Week. This is a once in a lifetime collaboration (or for one night only) of 2 of Brooklyn’s best Burgers, served with 2 of Brooklyn’s best purveyors of adult beverages and a portion of proceeds will go to NY Bully Crew Pit Rescue.

While you’re enjoying this very special Burger — made with The Prime Burger (100{ac6e72b93aea1d4d9fc638073263449a51587c3353b2bb23f0a1180fb3daf6fc} USDA Prime Chuck) by Schweid & Sons — you’ll be invited into The Shanty, NY Distilling Company’s on-site bar, where you’ll sample NY Distilling Co’s Ragtime Rye and Sixpoint’s Jammer Gose. You’ll also be invited to join on a distillery tour and barrel tasting.

New York Bully Crew is a 501c3 not-for-profit rescue organization founded in December 2010. Though based on Long Island, NYBC’s outreach is nationwide. They specialize in rescuing Pitbulls, however no animal in dire need of rescue is turned away.

WOW! Talk about an epic Burger event! Everyone involved worked really hard to make this a super fun, magical and unique NYC Burger Week moment. All that aside, we were able to work together to raise hundreds of dollars for an excellent charity organization. First and foremost, thank you to Andrew Zurica, Matt Hyland and everyone in the Hard Times Sundaes and Emily families. Those are two of the most popular and busy Chefs / restaurants in the city and they put everything else on their busy schedules aside to make this happen. Your dedication to customer service and love for great food is not only obvious, it is a core part of your DNA. Thanks to the staff at New York Distilling Company and The Shanty. You handled this with the class and style that your brand is well known for. Thank you to Sixpoint for supporting efforts and really helping to make this event about Brooklyn artisans. Thank you to New York Bully Crew for doing what you do. We’d like to thank you for supporting the event but what we would really like to thank you for is selflessly working every day to help save the lives of animals that need a helping hand. You’re the best.Thank you to all of our fellow foodstagrammers that came out and shared not only an awesome Burger but shared the experience with your followers on line.
