To celebrate National Hamburger Month, Schweid & Sons proudly brings you the 4th Annual NY Burger Week, May 1-7, 2015.

The Burger Week is a 7-day celebration of trendsetting chefs and unique Burgers with a series of daily events.

The story goes like this; Mike from Gotham Burger Social Club reaches out and asks if they can partner up again with us on a NY Burger Week event. We of course say “YES!” Mike replies “but you haven’t heard the idea yet.” That’s how much we trust these guys to do something Burgeriffic.

Mike laughs and then gives us the idea – “several of the club members are pet owners, specifically dogs and we love them. We want to do something that supports animal adoption and no-kill shelters in NYC. What if we team up with Andrew Zurica and the Hard Times Sundaes Burger truck to help raise money for pet rescue?”

Done.

Andrew was of course on board and all we needed was a location to park the truck. Well if you know anything about the Gotham Burger Social Club, they enjoy a little bit of the tipple. So we called up Allen Katz at NY Distilling Co and asked if they would be play hosts to our Burger event. He too, of course, said “YES!”

– Free Burgers to Raise Money For Pet Rescue –

Andrew Zurica and his Hard Times Sundaes Burger Truck will team up with NY Distilling Company (405 Leonard Street, Brooklyn), The Gotham Burger Social Club and Schweid & Sons to raise money for New York Bully Crew rescue organization as part of the 4th Annual NY Burger Week. On Saturday, May 2, Zurica will pull up the Hard Times Sundaes truck in front of NY Distilling and give out 200 Burgers for free. Cash donations — in any amount — will be accepted, with 100{ac6e72b93aea1d4d9fc638073263449a51587c3353b2bb23f0a1180fb3daf6fc} of the proceeds going directly to the New York Bully Crew rescue organization. While you’re enjoying one of Zurica’s signature juicy Burgers — made with The Prime Burger (100{ac6e72b93aea1d4d9fc638073263449a51587c3353b2bb23f0a1180fb3daf6fc} USDA Prime Chuck) by Schweid & Sons — you’ll be invited into The Shanty, NY Distilling Company’s on-site bar, where you can buy a drink made with one of their locally made and unique spirits.

New York Bully Crew is a 501c3 not-for-profit rescue organization founded in December 2010. Though based on Long Island, NYBC’s outreach is nationwide. We specialize in rescuing Pitbulls, however no animal in dire need of rescue is turned away.

THE BURGERS
Andrew keeps it real simple. His theory: make a Burger everyone can like and eat once a week. He uses the Scwheid & Sons Prime Burger. It’s 100{ac6e72b93aea1d4d9fc638073263449a51587c3353b2bb23f0a1180fb3daf6fc} pure Chuck that grades Prime which means it’s seriously juicy and tastes exactly how a Burger is supposed to taste. For the event he served them with Lettuce and Tomatoes and a piece of American Cheese that gets steamed on the Burger while still on the grill. It’s all served in a Martin’s Potato Roll and it is seriously awesome.

Even the pooches got in on the Burger action!

We’re very proud to say the event was a tremendous success! Between the donations for Burgers, the spirits raffle and New York Bully Crew merchandise, together we were able to raise $2003 for pet rescue. That is just awesome!
