- Stainless Steel Wipes (or Clean Wet Rags)
How To Clean a Grill In Under 20 Minutes
- Make sure the grill dials are in their off positions. While the grill is still warm, disconnect from propane tank and remove the grates, metal plates, and grease trap. Be sure to wear heavy duty gloves to protect your hands! Put the grates, etc. in a bucket of warm water and dish soap to soak.
If you haven’t turned on your grill in a while, fire it up for a bit and let it warm up. Then turn it off and begin the cleaning process. A slightly warm grill will make it much easier to clean. - Cover the heating elements of the grill (the bits under the grates) with aluminum foil to protect them during the cleaning process. Scrub under the hood of the grill with a grill brush. The splotches under the hood are smoke and grease residue that should come off rather easily.
- After the hood has been cleaned, it’s time to tackle the walls of the grill. Still focusing your attention above the heating elements, scrub the walls with a grill brush and allow the grime and ash to fall onto the aluminum foil. Then lightly wipe the walls with a damp paper towel.
- Remove the grates and grease trap, etc. from the bucket. Scrub with a grill brush until clean. Rinse thoroughly—use a hose for best results.
- Toss the aluminum foil and carefully replace the grates and grease trap. Reconnect the propane tank.
- If your grill has a cabinet, clean out any leaves or other debris that may have become lodged since the last cleaning.
- Clean the exterior of the grill with stainless steel wipes (or clean wet rags). Allow to air dry.
